Statement of Faith
Scripture
We believe the Scriptures, both Old and New Testament to be the inspired Word of God. The Bible is the complete revelation of God’s will for the salvation of men and women, and the
divine and final authority for all Christian faith and life.
(2 Tim. 3:16; 2 Pet. 1:21)
God
We believe in one God, Creator of all things, infinitely perfect and eternally existing in
three persons, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
(Deut. 6:4; Matt. 3:11-17; 28:19; 2 Cor. 13:14; 1 Pet. 1:1-2)
Jesus Christ
We believe Jesus Christ is true God and true man, having been conceived of the Holy Spirit
and born of the Virgin Mary. He died on the cross, a sacrifice for our sins according to the Scriptures.
Further, He arose bodily from the dead and ascended into heaven, where at the right hand of the
Majesty on High, He is now our High Priest and Advocate.
(Matt. 1:18; Lk. 2:52; Jn. 4:6; Heb. 4:14-16; 5:8; Jn. 1:3; 20:2; 1 Jn. 2:1)
Holy Spirit
We believe the ministry of the Holy Spirit is to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ, and during
this age to convict, regenerate, indwell, guide, instruct and empower the believer for life and service.
(Jn. 14:26; Rom.8:14; Jn.3:5-6; 16:8)
Humankind
We believe humankind was created in the image of God, but fell into sin.
Therefore, the image is tainted and partially lost, and only through regeneration by
the Holy Spirit can salvation and spiritual life be obtained.
(Gen. 1:26-27; Rom.5:12-21; 8:29-30; Col. 3:9-10; 1 Jn. 3:2)
Salvation
We believe the shed blood of Jesus Christ and His resurrection provide the only ground
for justification and salvation for all who believe, and only such as receive Jesus Christ are
born of the Holy Spirit and thus become children of God.
(Jn. 3:16; Rom.5:10-11; 2 Cor.5:18-20; Gal.4:4-6; 1 Jn. 3:1)
Ordinances
We believe water baptism and the Lord’s Supper are ordinances to be observed by the Church during this age. We believe in physically participating in these commands of God. They are not however to be regarded as
means of gaining justification before God.
(Acts 8:36-38; 16:30-33; 1 Cor.11:23-26)
The Church
We believe the true Church is composed of all such persons who are regenerated by the Holy Spirit through
saving faith in Jesus Christ, are united together in the Body of Christ of which He is Lord and Head and are
commissioned for the God-given task of proclaiming the gospel to every person. Only those who are thus members of the true Church shall be eligible for membership in the local church.
(1 Cor. 12:13; Col. 1:18; 1 Cor. 5:1-13)
Second Coming of Jesus
We believe in the personal and imminent return of our Lord Jesus Christ, and that this has a vital bearing on
the personal life and service of the believer.
(1Jn. 2:28; Acts 1:9-11; Matt. 25:1-13)
Judgment
We believe in the bodily resurrection of the dead, of the believer to everlasting blessedness and joy
with the Lord, and of the unbeliever to judgment and eternal separation from God.
(Jn. 5:28-29; Rev.20:11-15)
